Southwell Choral Society

Southwell Choral Society performs renowned choral works in our historic Minster under the direction of Nick Thorpe.

This season we will be commemorating the centenary of the ending of the First World War with a performance of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man – A Mass for Peace on 17th November 2018, in the presence of civic and clerical dignitaries and the flags of the British Legion.

Our Spring concert will be a performance of John Rutter’s Magnificat and Edward Elgar’s The Music Makers. Our bursary and composition awards, totalling £1,500 will again be available this year. These are to encourage and support young people in their musical career. Please see our website www.southwellchoralsociety.com for further details.

We are a non-audition community choir and rehearse in the State Chamber of the Archbishop’s Palace on Mondays during term time 7.30pm to 9.15 pm. New members are always welcome. Contact Brenda on 01636 830548 or at brenda.mcleish@outlook.com or contact us via the website.
