Southwell Flood Forum

Southwell Flood Forum is a community group affiliated to the National Flood Forum. It was formed following the severe rainstorm which caused flooding of many properties in July 2013, some of which had also been flooded in 2007, and offers support, help and information on a range of issues related to flooding.

We work closely with Nottinghamshire County Council, the Lead Local Flood Authority, local authorities, DEFRA, agencies and related organisations to reduce flood risk. We have formed partnerships with both Universities in Nottingham covering research on both Flood Management in Southwell and Community Resilience.

Flood relief measures will include engineered as well as NFM to reduce risk and the impact of flooding. Government funding is secured and additional funding will come from local councils, a community contribution of at least £125K and other funding streams continue to be identified.
