Proven by researchers to be a hugely beneficial activity, singing in a choir is something that anyone can do, regardless of age, and choristers have been doing it for centuries! Cathedral choristers are trained to read music, given individual singing and instrumental lessons, and grow in confidence - musically and intellectually - as they work through the ranks of the choir. Choristers regularly sing live on national radio, record CDs, and perform to thousands over the Christmas and Easter periods.

The fame of Southwell's Bramley Apple Festival has spread worldwide. When this year's Festival takes place on Saturday 21st October guests of honour include authors from Japan, where the Bramley has its own fan club, and the USA.
