Christmas will soon be upon us and Beaumond House Community Hospice is excited about its upcoming festive fundraising events.

This December, local charity Reach is tackling the issue of loneliness facing people with learning disabilities through its Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign, 'Not Lonely this Christmas'.

Proven by researchers to be a hugely beneficial activity, singing in a choir is something that anyone can do, regardless of age, and choristers have been doing it for centuries! Cathedral choristers are trained to read music, given individual singing and instrumental lessons, and grow in confidence - musically and intellectually - as they work through the ranks of the choir. Choristers regularly sing live on national radio, record CDs, and perform to thousands over the Christmas and Easter periods.

Santa will be busy again this year with his many helpers! We have made some minor changes this year to take into account the new housing developments in Southwell and the villages. We aim to start at around 6.00 pm and finish at 9.00 pm, but due to the many children we see, all timings are approximate. Please bear with us if we are not quite on schedule.

The fame of Southwell's Bramley Apple Festival has spread worldwide. When this year's Festival takes place on Saturday 21st October guests of honour include authors from Japan, where the Bramley has its own fan club, and the USA.
