The increasing popularity of the Southwell Music Festival, which took place over the August bank holiday weekend, is music to the ears of festival organisers.

In January the Derek Bailey Foundation was in the process of organising the logistics of building three new classrooms onto the school in Nyofelleh in The Gambia that we have built in the last 25 years. This gives basic primary education to almost 700 pupils who are taught in two halves, 350 in the morning and 350 in the afternoon.

The National Civil War Centre has launched Ingenious Inventions, its programme of summer holiday activities. Local dignitaries and officials, family bloggers and a gaggle of excited children attended the Centre for the spectacular launch and a sneak peak at the many craft activities on offer.

Our global network of 46,000 clubs, with 1.4 million people in more than 200 countries, continues to serve our communities in our centenary year. A lasting legacy from the early years of Lions is the white canes for the visually impaired which are still recognised today.
