Gunthorpe's 100th Remembrance Ceremony

Sunday, 11th November 2018 : 10.45am to 11.30am


Residents of Gunthorpe will be honouring the 12 local men who gave their lives in World War 1 at Gunthorpe Riverside, between The Unicorn and the bridge on Sunday 11th November, from 10.45am to 11.30am. The event will start with a Welcome by Richard Mills, followed by songs led by Andy Jenkins and a poem read by Ben and Oliver from Gunthorpe C Of E Primary School. At 11am two minutes silence will be observed. The seven men of Bomber Command who died in the Parish of Gunthorpe on 1st October 1942 will also be remembered. Guests will include Parish Council Vice Chairman Tony Everington and an Officer at RAF Syerston who will give a Military tribute. “Tommy” Cards will be available to write a message on and hang them on the servicemen`s memorial trees and lay a wreath on the Woodland Trust Memorial Plinth.
