Born in 1971 with an inherited rare blood disorder, for which a bone-marrow transplant would have been the only cure, Anthony sadly died in 1979 because a suitable non-related donor could not be found in time to save him.

The Palace Theatre Newark turns 100 this week and while it's not the celebration they expected, they're not going to let the centenary pass without celebration. A Gala weekend had been planned, with performances on stage from local stars and performance groups, and although these shows have been postponed until next year, the Theatre is taking its party online this weekend.

Fitness instructors in Southwell have taken their classes onto Zoom. Suzi Matthews from Feel Good Fitness, Liz Pountney the Healthy Habits Coach and Jess Tullberg from Jess Tullberg Yoga have all starting using Zoom to keep their classes going as it became apparent that exercising together in groups was not going to be allowed.

Newark Book Festival, the annual literature festival that attracts more than 5,000 visitors each year to Newark, is set to return for a fourth year in a row with a virtual programme of events. Taking place 10th – 12th July 2020, headline authors including Sophie Hannah and Kate Mosse will take part in a series of events which celebrate creativity and anniversaries over the past 100 years.
