March 10th saw an outbreak of red noses and fancy dress costumes at the Minster School as pupils and staff joined most of-the rest of the country in raising money for Comic Relief. The national event hopes to raise £20m for disadvantaged people in Britain and Africa and local students joined in with enthusiasm in their bid to raise £1700 and double last year's total.

Chris Elias hands over the £500 raised by her Swing into Shape class members to Leisure Centre Manager Daphne James. The money was raised earlier in the year by 120 ladies who attend a non-stop exercise session in aid of the swimming pool hoist and wheelchair appeal.

Cubs, Scouts and Venturers have been busy earning real money over the past few weekends.
