Rugby players from the Southwell RFC U9s squad took tips from the professionals when they joined a Matchday Coaching Clinic with the Leicester Tigers. The boys were put through their paces and they were soon showing why they are unbeaten this season – strong teamwork, good technique and always willing to listen, learn and put advice into practice.

The Clinic also provided a chance to meet two of the Tigers' first-team players and talk to them about playing professional rugby and to get top-tips with regard how they feel up-and-coming players can improve.

It was then off to Welford Road to watch a victorious Tigers and to see the professionals put all of the training, techniques and tips into practice.
Although the weather was awful, the highlight had to be walking out onto the pitch, at half time, to the cheer of the crowd, for a team photo – something never to be forgotten and, who knows, played out for real one day by some of them?

The day concluded with the boys visiting the Young Tigers Club, meeting some other young club players, viewing the trophy cabinet and generally having the time of their lives – they were an absolute credit and certainly made sure that the Southwell RFC fan-base has been added to!

A massive thanks to both the Tigers, for being such fabulous hosts, and to our brilliant coach, Gavin, for organising a truly memorable day of rugby.
