Firmly established as an annual event, the Southwell Gate Decorating competition at the end of May is set to wow residents and visitors alike with the creative energy and imagination that so many have put into displays in previous years.

Approaching the May Bank Holiday Weekend, residents and businesses are being asked to decorate their gates, arches, fences and windows inspired by the Gate To Southwell Festival's 2019 theme of Europe and European culture, which should give plenty of scope for design. This will mirror the international Festival line up featuring acts from Denmark, Holland, Spain, Austria, Mallorca, Eire and all the UK countries in addition to our usual Canadian and American friends. The line-up so far can be viewed on the website at www.gtsf.uk

To enter your decorated gate please register via the website under the 'Get Involved' tab before midnight on Wednesday 22nd May. Judging takes place over the Bank Holiday Weekend of 24th to 27th May. As before, there will be a Trail allowing residents and visitors to join in the fun by picking up a scoring sheet and route map from any of the businesses displaying a 'Rate The Gates poster'. Please return completed Trail entries to Sweets of Southwell on King Street.

The Decorate Your Gate winners will receive a full family weekend ticket worth nearly £350 and will also be presented with a cup, kindly donated by Kirkland & Lane, on Sunday 9th June at the festival site. They'll hold the cup until next year's festival. Completed Trail forms will be entered into a draw for a full weekend family Teaser ticket. Have fun!
