After 42 years Southwell Preschool will sadly be closing its doors on the 26th October. We made this very hard decision because of diminishing numbers over the last year, this being due to losing a large part of our cohort at Easter and July this year.

After the relative summer calm, the Southwell Lions are now back in action planning events for the next few months. The Macmillan coffee morning, where we supported the Rotary club, was again a success. Thanks to all of you who had a go on our Human Fruit Machine or tombola to raise a record amount.

This year's Bramley Apple Festival on Saturday 20th October is very special as it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the event, which was set up to celebrate the town's unique connection with the nation's favourite cooking apple.

This year marks the centenary of the armistice that ended the First World War. Local groups will be commemorating this with various local events and initiatives.

Hockerton Housing Project is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion it iwelcomed the Chairman of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Councillor Keith Walker to unveil a plaque commemorating the legacy of the three parties behind their ground-breaking housing development.
