Village Hall Open Day

South Muskham and Little Carlton Village Hall will be part of a national campaign which celebrates England’s 10,000 village halls. Celebrating in style, South Muskham and Little Carlton will have a free coffee morning and open day on Saturday 25 January. The open day is free to all and will showcase the hall’s activities and facilities. The local MP has also been invited to attend to show support. Mr Geoff Wilkinson, Chairman said: “The Village Hall is an essential part of our community. It was built in 1957 and substantially updated in 2015. It is run by a Committee of 10 volunteers. We provide an attractive well maintained venue for social, recreational, training and educational purposes, with screen, projector and free WiFi available.” Village Halls Week is run by national rural charity Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) and their 38 member organisations. It takes place from Monday 20th January to Sunday 26th January.

Babes in the Wood

The ever popular East Markham Players return in 2020, after many years of playing to packed houses in their home village and, more recently, also in Dunham on Trent.   This year’s fun filled frolics will be aided by the script for ‘Babes in the Wood’ and showcase the Players’ irrepressible love for life and entertainment. This is the ultimate in family entertainment, guaranteed to blow away the post-Christmas blues - and right on your local doorstep. You may also (just) recognise some familiar faces from the local community.   The dates are 7.30pm on: Friday 31st Jan 7.30pm and Saturday 1st Feb 2pm and 7.30pm at East Markham Village Hall. Also playing on Saturday 8th Feb 2.30pm and 7.30pm at Dunham-on-Trent Village Hall.   Be sure to get your tickets soon from either Sally Mitchell Gallery in Tuxford or East Markham Post Office. They always sell quickly!

The Storm Officer

The Climate Emergency is Here! This play tells the tale of one town's struggle with the realities of extreme weather. It's designed to address issues like climate change, but does so with gentle comedy, jolly accordian playing and verbal gymnastics. Come rain or shine it's a lovely production.
