ON MAY Day the Wheatsheaf Football Club played its annual Charlie Belcher Memorial match for the tenth time. This match is played in memory of Charlie Belcher, a Wheatsheaf player who died whilst goalkeeping for the Club 10 years ago.

FORMER pupil and current TV personality William Ivory officially opened the 'Helen Watson Library' at Lowe's Wong Junior School on 15th January.

PUPILS at the Minster School's Annual Prizegiving Ceremony on October 13th were given a stirring speech by Mr C. Alves, general secretary of the General Synod of the Church of England's Board of Education.

March 10th saw an outbreak of red noses and fancy dress costumes at the Minster School as pupils and staff joined most of-the rest of the country in raising money for Comic Relief. The national event hopes to raise £20m for disadvantaged people in Britain and Africa and local students joined in with enthusiasm in their bid to raise £1700 and double last year's total.

Chris Elias hands over the £500 raised by her Swing into Shape class members to Leisure Centre Manager Daphne James. The money was raised earlier in the year by 120 ladies who attend a non-stop exercise session in aid of the swimming pool hoist and wheelchair appeal.
