BIG Evensong

Saturday, 15th February 2020 : 5.30pm

There’s going to be a very special BIG Evensong Service at Southwell Minster on Saturday 15th February. Over 80 upper voices will be singing in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society – a charity chosen because they know many people with dementia love to sing and so believe this is a most appropriate fundraiser. Patrick Craig is directing the choir. A renowned countertenor himself and international conductor, he sang for 20 years with the Tallis Scholars and is currently Vicar Choral at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. The musical settings  will include works by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange, Hugh Blair and Franz Biebl. David Quinn, former Minster Organ Scholar, is the accompanist. It’s BIG because that’s a lot of singers and because they will be raising a BIG amount for the work of The Alzheimer’s Society. They want a BIG congregation to fill the Minster and raise even more money – do come and be part of it. It is a normal church service so please arrive and be seated before the 5.30pm start, with an expected finish time of 6.15pm when there will be a bucket collection for the charity.
